How to make pages show only summary of each post on WP blog?

Myself being new to blogging world, was looking for some means to show only summary of each post on the blog site. I tried a lot of options under the themes section to no avail. However, thanks to Google and webmasterworld’s user ergophobe, I could make this possible. For guys who are still looking for such settings, here is the transcript of the above said user which has worked for me.

1. The normal way is to use the <!–more–> tag to differentiate excerpts from full posts. only the bit before the “more” will show on the front page, category pages, etc.

2. You can amp this up with the Excerpt Editor Plugin

3. If you don’t care about where they get cut, you can limit snippets to a set number of characters with the WP Limit Posts plugin
